About Pench Wildlife Sanctuary:

Pench Wildlife Sanctuary has been widely documented in the works of many erudite writers like Captain Forsyth, A.A.D. Brander, R.A. Strendale and Rudyard Kipling as the home of a rich variety of flora and fauna. The Park has been aptly christened after river Pench that flows nearby and was asserted as a certified area in 1972 and soon after validated with the stature of a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1983.

Home to a considerable population of endangered species of flora and fauna, including the tigers, the park is the 19th Tiger Reserve in the country sprawling over a sweeping 758 km of uncharted land, out of which 299 sq km of the core area forms the National Park and 464 km comprises the buffer area.

Topography of Pench Wildlife Sanctuary: A mix of Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Teak and Southern Tropical Mixed Deciduous Forests blanket the entire region, this along with an intermittent growth of various species of shrubs, trees and climbers makes for a plush vegetation cover in the Park. The medical benefits of some of the rare and exotic herbs and grasses growing in this region are yet to be harnessed.

Climate of Pench Wildlife Sanctuary:

The Tropical climate of the region lends it with hot summers and cold winters. Monsoon showers bring some respite from the summer heat from the beginning of July and continue until September. Light cotton clothes are the best pick for summer, whereas some light jacket or sweater is more than enough to beat the chill of the area.
