About Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary

Once the hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur, The Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary is located at the meeting point of Aravali Hill ranges and the Vindhyan plateau. The rivers Chambal in the South and Banas in the North bound the Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary. Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary was among one of the very first sanctuaries to come under the protection of Project Tiger. Six man made lakes are at the focal point of the Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary. Many perennial streams also meandering across the entire Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary.

Climate in the Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary

Owing to the proximity to the Thar Desert, Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary experiences drastic variations in climatic conditions. In the winters the mercury drops to around 2 degrees centigrade rises all the way up to 47 degrees centigrade in the summers.
The Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary receives rainfall in July and August.
