It would certainly hurt you to hear that more than 300 elephants and other animals including lions, vultures, painted dogs and hyenas have died of cyanide poisoning. The incident took place in Zimbabwe’s largest game park, a wildlife conservation group said on Monday.
It was done by the poachers who smuggle the horns and teeth of these animals to Asian countries where they are in demand. These poached horns, skin and elephant tooth are used as ingredients in medicines and also much sought after as souvenirs.
The incident was reported by the group of hunters who were flying over Hawange area and spotted hundreds of dead bodies of elephants lying across the pool.
