Mammals
One can come across a large variety of wildlife in Bandhavgarh. It is home to a large variety of mammals. Carnivores like the royal Bengal tiger, striped hyena, jungle cat, leopard, golden jackal, wolf Bengal can be seen. Apart from that, langur, wild boars, chital deer, Indian gazelle, nilgai, Indian bison, chausinga, chinkara are found. Among the small sports, the four-horned antelope, Indian hare, suirrels, mongoose, Indian pangolin, Indian porcupine can be seen if you are attentive and quiet. The nearly threatened blackbuck an antelope of the bovidae family also reside here.
Birds
The bandhavgarh national park has 250 species of birds. The ones most often seen are: Bee-eaters, Blossom headed parakeets, Crested Serpent eagle, grey hornbill, Pied hornbill, Red Jungle Fowl, Steppe eagle, White breasted Kingfisher, Paradise Flycatcher, White-browed Fantail Flycatcher, Tickell’s Flycatcher, Sapphire Flycatcher, Lesser Whistling Teal, Common Teal, Drongos, Minivets, Little Grebes, Lesser Adjutant Storks, Lesser Adjutant, Peafowl, Wood shrikes, Warblers and lots of others.
Reptiles
Bandhavgarh has been recorded to be the home of over 23 species of snakes till date. The Rock Python (Python molurus), the Spectacled Cobra, Common krait (Bangarus caeruleus) and the Rat snake are the ones most commonly found.
Butterflies
73 species of butterflies have been identified till date to flock the jungles in Bandhavgarh. Of them the most commonly seen are, Plain tiger, Common wanderer, Common grass yellow, Leopard, Blue pansy, Common crow, Danaid eggfly and the Common rose.
