Kaziranga National
Park in Assam, the finest sanctuary in East India, is home to the largest population of rhinoceros in India. It recently celebrated the 100 years of survival of the rare one-horned rhino. Other animals that attract tourists in the park are wild buffaloes, elephants, wild boar, Indian bison, leopard, Barasinghas (Swamp Deer), Barking Deer, Sambar, Pygmy Hog, Sloth Bears, Jungle Cats, Otters, Jackal, Hog Badgers, Leopard Cats, Chital, Para, Gibbons, capped langurs, hog deer and tigers.
Birds
The Kaziranga National Park is an ideal place for bird-watching. Some of the species of birds that may be sighted are Pallas's fishing eagle, white-tailed eagle, oriental honey buzzard, Black Kite, Brahminy kite, Blue-breasted Quail, Himalayan Griffon, Grey Peacock Pheasant, Rose-breasted Parakeet, Red Jungle Fowl, Swamp Partridge, black-shouldered kite and grey-headed fishing eagle. During winter, migratory birds like Graylag Geese, Bar-Headed Geese, Ruddy Shelduck, Gadwall, Falcated Duck, Red-Crested Pochard and Northern Shoveller flock the sanctuary.
Marine life
Water buffalos and The Ganges Dolphins are popular marine animals of the Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary.
Reptiles
Rock Python, Monitor Lizards, Turtles, other varieties of snakes are the types of reptiles visible in the Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary.
