About The Sanctuary
Named after the famous hunter and nature-lover Jim Corbett, Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary owns the whole credit to this naturalist who has immortalized this land its animals in his book "The Man-Eaters of Kumaon". Tucked away amidst the picture-perfect beauties of the Kumaon hills in Nainital district, Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary holds the honor of being the maiden venue for the launch of the Project Tiger ( 1973 ). Expanded over an area of 520sqkm., Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary is about beautiful hilly ridges, dense sal trees, lush green grasslands and bamboo growth. And now check out the wildlife directory, a whooping 582 species of birds, 26 species of reptiles, 7 species of amphibians and 50 species of mammals.
Climate
The temperature oscillates between 8-25°C during November-March and 15-38°C from April to October.
