Animals
Tigers
Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most densely populated parks in India with a ratio of 1 tiger to every 5 acres. Gullies, ravines and thick forest cover provide the animals with the right kind of habitat and food. The tiger is basically withdrawn by nature, but you can somewhat predict its regular route. You are more likely to spot a tiger close near a water body than to meet him or her accidentally on the forest path.
Asiatic Elephant
Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary is the best place in north India to observe the Asiatic Elephant at fairly close quarters. About 300 - 350 elephants roam around the sanctuary in herds, along the river Ramganga or wandering in the grasslands.
Bird Population
Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary is home to more than 600 species of birds. The rich avian life includes parakeets, owls, orioles, drongos, thrushes, babblers, bulbuls, cuckoos, doves, bee eaters, rollers, flycatchers, warblers, robins, chats, finches, forktails, hornbills, kingfishers and many many more.
Reptiles and Marine Life
Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary includes several species of reptiles and marine life. You can spot many of these reptiles and fishes in the rivers and streams that pass through the land. Indian Rock Python, Common Sand Boa, Banded Krait, King Cobra, Gharial, Mugger Crocodile are to name just a few.
