About the Sanctuary:
The B.R. hills wildlife
sanctuary in Karnataka acts as a bridge between the eastern and western Ghats. It is a unique blend of resort and wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is situated between the Cauvery and Tungabhadra rivers in Karnataka. The sanctuary is a paradise for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. Whispering winds and ravishing streams in the backdrop take you to a peaceful reverie. The sanctuary boasts of a variety of wildlife like Gaurs, chitals, sambhars, bears, elephants, panthers and tigers. The beautiful and exotic birds found here are the racket-tailed drongo and the crested eagle.
Climate:
The B.R. Hills Wildlife Sanctuary sprawling across 540 square kilometers experiences extremes of temperatures. Despite the climate is pleasant through out the year. The place records a wide variation in mean temperatures (90o C to 1600 C and 20o C to 38o C maximum). Rainfall recorded in the area ranges from 600mm at the base to 3000mm atop the hills. The wide variation in climatic conditions has resulted in the growth of heterogeneous vegetation. Scrub, deciduous, riparian, evergreen, sholas and grasslands are found in and around the sanctuary.
