In the state of Uttranachal, is one of the most famous National Parks in India. The Corbett National Park, which was established in 1936, covers an area of 1288 sq. kms including the adjoining Sonanadi wildlife sanctuary and Reserve Forest areas. The National Park is named after the famous naturalist-writer Jim Corbett, whose house has now been turned into a museum. The Park has over 600 species of trees and plants, more than 577 kinds of birds and over 50 species of animals.
