Located in 'God's own country' Kerala, Periyar National Park is a favorite among tourists. The National Park has animals like, wild pigs, elephants, wild dogs, mouse deer, sloth bear, tigers, leopards, etc. For bird-lovers, there are birds such as kingfishers, darters, gray herons, etc.
In the middle of this Sanctuary is a lake, which was formed after the construction of a dam.
